WHAT’S THIS
PROJECT ABOUT?
This project is to raise awareness about how Asian parents neglect the emotional aspect of children upbringing, and how emotionally unhealthy it is for children. By speaking from children's point of view, it hopes to help and encourage children to speak up about what they are going through emotionally, due to the words and actions of parents. Different products are sold to achieve the objective to raise awareness, guide and encourage parents and children to show love better to each other, therefore lead to deeper emotional intimacy and closer bond. The ultimate goal is to help redefine and rebuild healthier relationships between parents and children.
A BUSY WORLD
WE CANNOT SEE
WHAT’S THIS
PROJECT ABOUT?
There are a lot of buskers in Malaysia, contributing to the active nightlife. Within the culture of busking in Malaysia, there’s an interesting Subculture that I chose to focus on and took a few months to observe. They are visually impaired buskers. After observing them and after I did some live sketches, I came up with a story that I wish to covey for them and made a zine with the story.
WHY START THIS PROJECT?
This zine is inspired by the minority and it is dedicated to the world to raise awareness for the visually impaired. Instead of just pitying them, We should have a new perspective towards them. The concept of this zine was adding braille to translate the text of that page. I wanted to add an element the visually impaired would appreciate if they received a copy of my zine. Braille is placed at the bottom of each page as if serving as subtitles for them.
Just because they have an obstacle in life, that does not mean they have a sadder life. It is just a different life.
