WHAT’S THIS
PROJECT ABOUT?
This project is to raise awareness about how Asian parents neglect the emotional aspect of children upbringing, and how emotionally unhealthy it is for children. By speaking from children's point of view, it hopes to help and encourage children to speak up about what they are going through emotionally, due to the words and actions of parents. Different products are sold to achieve the objective to raise awareness, guide and encourage parents and children to show love better to each other, therefore lead to deeper emotional intimacy and closer bond. The ultimate goal is to help redefine and rebuild healthier relationships between parents and children.
LOOKING UP IN
SINGAPORE
WHAT’S THIS
PROJECT ABOUT?
“Looking up in Singapore” is a short and fun photography zine filled with captured views of what I see when I lift my head in Singapore. This zine is solely to note down all the places we’ve visited. Photographs idea was inspired because I enjoy looking up towards the sky and clouds while walking here and there in Singapore.
WHY START THIS PROJECT?
My grandma has been declared bankruptcy when my grandpa divorced her centuries ago and things went wrong, so she was banned from owning passports, therefore, she could not travel overseas for as long as I remember. She has always been talking about wanting to visit Singapore and visit our relatives. Recently, with the help of some friends, she finally can have a passport after sooo many years and this is the first out-of-Malaysia trip I have with her. To capture this precious and historical trip and memory, I made this photography zine for her, hoping that she has something to look back to. This zine is also bilingual as my grandma can only read Chinese.
